MED 1- Critical Incident Aid
This Critical Incident Aid Course is an entry-level course designed to teach basic Life Saving Interventions (LSI) that will help save an injured person's life until emergency medical services (EMS) can arrive. Although this training is designed for beginners, the subject matter and techniques allow students to build realistic skills that can survive the test of stress and short duration time constraints.
The course utilizes classroom, skills sessions, and scenario-based training to deliver material and foster confidence in the skills taught. In this course the student will learn to identify threat environments they may encounter in everyday life then assess, treat, and evacuate casualties based on the defined threat.
This course will be a full 8-hour day with breaks in between and an allotted lunch break.

Understanding Traumatic Hemorrhage
Pressure Dressing Application
Airway Management
Recognizing and Treating Penetrating Chest Trauma
Pediatric and Geriatric Considerations
Casualty Movement
Hypothermia Management in the Trauma Patient
Heat Exhaustion/Heat Stroke Treatment & Prevention
Required minimum equipment:
Note taking supplies
Clothing that can get dirty
Eye protection / Ear protection (Digital is Recommended)
Inclement Weather Gear (No Rain Cancellations)
Course Location: North Carolina (RDU Area)
Course time: 9am - 4pm
